00:00 Wuzzy like you said, the nether, hades, <insert evil underworld here>
00:00 Asad3ainJalout although, i may avoid that and just install the asteroids one that just adds asteroids and comets
00:00 Wuzzy Asad3ainJalout: jeez. just. try. it. ouT! already! duuude
00:00 Lone-Star found the space and nether mods lacking. if you are thinking it will be the same as minecraft, you will be disappointed
00:01 Wuzzy Well MineClone 2 has the Nether, too. I almost like it. XD
00:01 Asad3ainJalout Lone-Star: they won't be, but i want to add a change of scenery, so far, minetest seems to have the best engine (lighter, faster, more customizeable) however it lacks in terms of content
00:01 Asad3ainJalout this is due to smaller non fulltime/professional dev team followed by smaller community so less modders
00:01 Asad3ainJalout that being said, i use open source for more reasons than it looks pretty
00:02 Wuzzy Minetest does not really lack in content. Minetest GAME lacks in content
00:02 Asad3ainJalout Wuzzy: the mobs in minetest are nowhere near the level of mobs made in minecraft mods and heck the base game
00:03 Asad3ainJalout the sound effects, visuals and overall aesthetics and polish of movement are all better in minecraft
00:03 Wuzzy yeah, mobs DO suck
00:03 Wuzzy well, minetest DOES lack in features
00:03 Asad3ainJalout the technical mods are better in minecraft
00:03 Asad3ainJalout as wella sth e magic
00:03 Asad3ainJalout but once again
00:03 Wuzzy "technical mods"?
00:03 Asad3ainJalout i use minetest cause at it's core it's better
00:03 Wuzzy I like Mesecons much more than redstone, just from the concept
00:03 Asad3ainJalout I will need to play more with mesecons
00:03 Wuzzy mesecons needs a bit polish but overall its great
00:04 Asad3ainJalout ANYWAYS let me get the maggen setup :D
00:04 Wuzzy redstone has so many gotchas
00:04 Asad3ainJalout Wuzzy: when was the last time you played feed the beast minecraft?
00:04 Wuzzy never haha
00:04 Asad3ainJalout you will see what i mean by minetest lacking on the technical side if you have ever played feed the beast ulimate pack
00:04 Asad3ainJalout also the magical side
00:05 Wuzzy i asked you what is a "technical mod", not if MT is lacking in features
00:05 Lone-Star one think i do like about mesecons, is the compactness of it. i have built some really complex systems that would have been 30 blocks in MC, but a third of that in MT
00:05 Lone-Star 8thing
00:05 Lone-Star *thing
00:05 Wuzzy Exactly that
00:06 Wuzzy the redstone rules are outright weird
00:06 Lone-Star right
00:06 Wuzzy not even vertical redstone. whyyyyyyy
00:06 Wuzzy how can you minecrafters even live without vertical redstone xD
00:07 Asad3ainJalout Wuzzy: hmm buildcraft, tinkerers construct, the applied energistics, industrial craft (i am skipping tekkit cause minetest has techit)
00:07 Lone-Star when i saw that mese could run vert, i almost jizzed myself, lol
00:07 Asad3ainJalout there are others these are the ones i remember
00:10 Wuzzy Asad3ainJalout: well you could always try to convince some MC modders to go to MT. :D many Minecrafters were pissed because of the MS sellout
00:10 Asad3ainJalout most just stopped playing
00:10 Asad3ainJalout I am close friends with the guy who made the secret rooms mod on minecraft
00:11 Asad3ainJalout i asked him to make his mod here, unfortunately, he does not enjoy programming in any language but java
00:11 Asad3ainJalout nor does he have time to program for fun
00:12 slemonide joined #minetest
00:12 Wuzzy he did have time for MC mods, so ...
00:12 Wuzzy if he knows java well then lua will be a piece of cake
00:13 Lukc joined #minetest
00:13 Wuzzy refusing to learn lua when you already know java well seems like total brain damage to me
00:14 Wuzzy lua is is probably easiest language ever. definitely not the best. but it does the job
00:14 Asad3ainJalout he had time to make minecraft mods when he was in college :D hes working full time while going for his masters Wuzzy :D
00:15 Asad3ainJalout he knows lua, and many other languages, he just does not have fun with them
00:15 Wuzzy argh. always this stupid "real life" coming in the way. xD
00:15 Lone-Star real life sux
00:16 Asad3ainJalout lol
00:16 Asad3ainJalout hey without real life, we would not have minetest
00:16 Lone-Star but it pays the bills
00:16 Wuzzy real life is an illusion. the matrix is real. black is white. sun is moon. 1=0. P=NP.
00:16 Asad3ainJalout hey, i cannot download this zip file https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=14497
00:16 Asad3ainJalout can any of you give it a shot?
00:17 Wuzzy try again
00:17 Wuzzy https://forum.minetest.net/download/file.php?id=7985
00:17 swift110 joined #minetest
00:17 Lone-Star im trying to learn lua, but im to old now, i cant remember what i did yesterday
00:17 Wuzzy arent people never too old to learn?
00:18 Asad3ainJalout "could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.
00:18 Asad3ainJalout Try again later, or contact the server administrator.
00:18 Asad3ainJalout thats what i keep getting
00:18 Lone-Star never to old to learn, its the remembering what you learned is the problem
00:19 Tux[Qyou] joined #minetest
00:19 Lone-Star i did manage to write a small mod though, the non jumpable fences mod :D
00:19 Wuzzy try again: https://www.load.to/nrMqC5eZRi/ByUjEdwinV2_space.zip
00:20 Wuzzy Lone-Star: are your fences *REALLY* non-jumpable?
00:20 Wuzzy did you test with sneakjumping?
00:20 Lone-Star yup
00:20 Wuzzy did you test with sneakjumping?
00:20 Wuzzy if yes then i am very excited
00:20 Lone-Star fences have a collision box of 1.5
00:21 Wuzzy ok then the answer is no :(
00:21 Wuzzy this is exactly how fences in MineClone 2 and Minecraft work
00:21 Lone-Star let me see right quick
00:21 Wuzzy its a bug in MT, i guess
00:21 Wuzzy you cant do much about it
00:22 Wuzzy unless fixing MT xD
00:24 Lone-Star yeah, i can sneak jump over 1 fence, but not 2
00:24 Lone-Star but for keeping animal mobs in, it works for what i wanted it to do
00:25 Asad3ainJalout Wuzzy: still cannot download it, am downloading the other_worlds mod instead, also, what good mobs mods are there, non-violent ones mind you
00:26 Wuzzy non-violent mods?
00:26 Wuzzy you should be more specific
00:26 Lone-Star kgpmobs
00:26 Asad3ainJalout non-violent mobs
00:26 Wuzzy oh
00:26 Lone-Star mobs_animals
00:27 Asad3ainJalout my kid are young, don't need them freaking out too much
00:27 Lone-Star those two i just listed is only animals
00:27 Asad3ainJalout nice
00:27 Asad3ainJalout Thank you Lone-Star
00:30 Lone-Star just check them out in the forums, cant remember what other mod dependencies they have, i know one needs mobs_redo
00:31 Asad3ainJalout https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?t=629 this one, and this one https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?t=9917 are what I am looking at

07:03 rdococ listen, kids, do not do what I am doing: do not compile minetest while watching twitch on a slow computer
07:04 jas_ noope
07:10 redblade7 would streaming a video make that much of a difference?
07:10 redblade7 it's the compiling that's slow
07:11 redblade7 that's why i use i7 cpus
07:11 redblade7 although i dont compile much anymore on my home desktop since i switched it from slackware to xubuntu
07:13 rdococ slackware? isn't windows a form of that?
07:13 rdococ :P
07:13 frostsnow Set high nice value of compiling process
07:15 rdococ nice
07:27 redblade7 the vps i host my minetest servers on is slackware
07:27 redblade7 and i have an old dying computer in my house that runs boinc
07:27 redblade7 also slackware
07:29 redblade7 but slackware is annoying to get video playback to work with, making it not a good choice for desktops
07:29 redblade7 and on laptops, it's good to have quick updates via a package management system, not waste time and battery compiling software
